Approaching the Fiscal Cliff

Let me start out by playing this video

As I had mentioned during the Debt Ceiling Debacle in my 20th Rant last year, this clip from Jerry Maguire where Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.) tells Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) to show him the money is quite fitting of what the American people (mostly from the Tea Party) are trying to tell the Democrats and Obama. Now, with it being 10 days, 10 hours, and 25 minutes until the new year, we are barreling toward the fiscal cliff and about to go over. Therefore, the American people are not only telling the Democrats but also the Republicans to do something to prevent us from going over the edge. On December 9, President Obama had met with House Speaker John Boehner (Republican from the 8th Congressional District in Ohio and also Schmuck of the Week on this very show for December 8, 2012) for the first time since the election to speak on a way to prevent us going over the fiscal cliff. You can find a good piece about the fiscal cliff from Robert Stacy McCain of The Other McCain.
We have not had a national budget in almost 1400 days, and every budget Obama had posited before Congress had not had a positive vote in the Senate, with even the Democrats opposing the Obama budget. When asked when the Senate would put forth their own budget. Max Baucus (Democrat from Montana who is Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee) and Harry Reid (Democrat from Nevada who is the Senate Majority Leader) both said that they are not required to put out a budget. These two are the main reasons why the Congress is in total disarray. The House had already passed a budget (thanks to Budget Chairman and 2012 Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Paul Ryan of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District) for the past three years and sent it on to the Senate, but Reid would not bring it to the floor for a vote.
Day after day we are inching closer not only to the fiscal cliff but also toward socialism. There is a saying that elections have consequences, and we are seeing it happening every second with Obama just sitting around fiddling. The last time a leader fiddled while his country was collapsing was Nero back in AD 64 when Rome was burning. The words of Alexander Tytler are ringing true.
TytlerCircle
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government.  It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.
"From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.  These nations have progressed through this sequence:
"From bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to apathy;
from apathy to dependence;
from dependency back again into bondage."

Every day we are sinking back again into bondage. Right now we are in the selfishness to apathy or the apathy to dependence stage. We need to tell Obama, Boehner, Reid, and the other politicians to batten down and do something to fix this nation’s debt and prevent us from going over the fiscal cliff, or their time in charge will end in 2014 (all 435 House members including Boehner and 33 senate seats including 20 held by Democrats) and we the people will elect Congressmen and Senators who will actually know how to fix the economy.

My thoughts on the horrific shooting in Connecticut

Words cannot describe the feelings and emotions I am going through right now over this shooting. Luckily there have been others like Robert Stacy McCain and Becca Lower for their wonderful pieces (which I will link to toward the end of this entry) on this situation. One thing I have to say -- and I had said it after the shooting in Aurora, Colorado, earlier this year and after other shootings -- is that guns don’t kill people; gun LAWS kill people. This can be seen in other parts of the world where strict gun laws were in effect throughout history, notably in Cambodia under Pol Pot, Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler, Russia (the old Soviet Union) under Stalin, and other places. Strict gun laws, where the government says that citizens cannot have firearms, lead to the government taking over every aspect of the citizens’ lives to the point that it becomes a totalitarian society.

And regardless of what we all think of Obama’s policies, I think he spoke right from the heart when he addressed the nation at 3:15 PM Eastern. In my mind, this was ALMOST like his speech after the Aurora shooting earlier this year and also the heinous shooting in Arizona which took the lives of 6 people and severely wounded then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona) where he spoke truly from the heart. Do I believe him? Mayhap not, but then too now is not the time for politics but rather for prayers and healing. If he were to speak this way all the time, then who knows? After all, there is a saying I hear often (do not know how it originated) which goes “A broken clock is right twice a day.”  Mayhap this is the time in which Obama got it right. Now tomorrow he might say something which might make me despise his policies as normal, but today he spoke not as a President but rather as a father.

    Join Rick Bulow and Billie Cotter (Host of Nobamanation every Thursday at 8 PM on Conservative Nation Radio) as they go through the week in news. Today they will go over the horrific shooting in Connecticut yesterday that left 27 killed (including the shooter) and the media playing Keystone Kops in trying to get the scoop first and also on the name of the shooter. Even the reliable Fox News got involved in the fray.  There was also other news this week (including the Unions being dealt a major loss in Michigan) that they will discuss, but the Connecticut shooting is primary. That and they will also take your phone calls.
    Join us today on Red, Right, and Blue at 1:30 PM Eastern, 12:30 Central. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas–Marine Style

    Just saw this in a link in my email Thursday:

    Merry Christmas, My Friend

    'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
    In a one-bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
    I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
    and to see just who in this home did live.

    As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
    no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
    No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
    On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.

    With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
    a sobering thought soon came to my mind.
    For this house was different, unlike any I’d seen.
    This was the home of a U.S. Marine.

    I’d heard stories about them, I had to see more,
    so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
    And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
    Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.

    He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
    Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.
    Was this the hero, of whom I’d just read?
    Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?

    His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
    I soon understood, this was more than a man.
    For I realized the families that I saw that night,
    owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.

    Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
    And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.

    They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
    because of Marines like this one lying here.

    I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
    on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
    Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
    I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.

    He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
    “Santa, don’t cry, this life is my choice
    I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more.
    My life is my God, my country, my Corps.”

    With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
    I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.

    I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
    I noticed he shivered from the cold night’s chill.
    So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
    and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
    Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
    with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
    And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
    and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.

    I didn’t want to leave him so quiet in the night,
    this guardian of honor so willing to fight.
    But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
    said “Carry on, Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all secure.”
    One look at my watch and I knew he was right,

    Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight

    The Greatest Danger to Our Freedom

    TytlerCircle

    Here is a very interesting piece that Blake Stephens had posted in The Patriot Zone.

    Some of you print notices to groups of folk. My hope is that ALL of you will read to the last line of this email and if you do believe that this man of wisdom, Alexander Tyler in 1787, hit the nail on the head with his statement about Democracies, you will share this information with your clientele and friends. Even tho’ we have a representative republic, I think it does apply to America today –
    PS> Amazing statistics on the recent election, too.
    This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.
    I have always heard about this democracy countdown.. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not
    that we deserve it.

    How Long Do We Have?
    About the time our original thirteen states adopted their
    new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a
    Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
    'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply
    cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
    'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time
    that voters discover they can vote themselves
    generous gifts from the public treasury.'
    ' From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal
    policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
    'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations
    from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'
    'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed
    through the following sequence:
    1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
    2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
    3. from courage to liberty;
    4. from liberty to abundance;
    5. from abundance to complacency;
    6. from complacency to apathy;
    7. from apathy to dependence;
    8. from dependence back into bondage'

    Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota points out some interesting facts concerning the 2008 Presidential election:
    Number of States won by:
    Democrats: 19
    Republicans: 29
    Square miles of land won by:
    Democrats: 580,000
    Republicans: 2,427,000
    Population of counties won by:
    Democrats: 127 million
    Republicans: 143 million
    Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
    Democrats: 13.2
    Republicans: 2.1
    Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is somewhere between  the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's
    population already having reached the 'governmental
    dependency' phase.
    If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty
    million criminal invaders called illegal's and they
    vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
    If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete
    this message. If you are not, then pass this along
    to help everyone realize just how much is at stake,
    knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our
    freedom.

    Even though the piece Blake posted had mentioned the numbers from the 2008 election, I think we can see it more with the 2012 election which put Obama back in office on the backs of the mooches, leaches, and parasites of this nation. Those people are the ones who Neal Boortz calls the “Dumbass dumb masses” who do not care about politics or if they do, it is only for 4 months and then only want a handout and not a hand up.

    I had mentioned in past blog entries that Atlas is shrugging right now, and if we do not do anything that the weight of the world will cause Atlas to throw it off of his shoulders. I am thinking that when we reach the final stage of Tytler’s circle (from dependence back into bondage) that it will be too late for this country as we know it. Obama and the Democrats are fiddling while America is burning.
